Dance is there, but you can't see it, you feel it. The bodies of six players move slowly sometimes, sometimes they establish mew dialogue the city's architecture. They show so far unperceived street details, unexpected connections. Away from stage, body creates a choreography in which risk and unexpected is always present, making every presentation a brand new “construction”. People who watch Urban Glance build with us many meanings and rebuild the city at every new glance
This installation is source and result of the research for Urban Spasms play, and makes use of rhythm changing to propose a reflection over the hurry and velocity which are forced on us everyday, taking us form the actuality of our very own lives and keeping us from being active individuals in the cosmopolitan scenery, instead of being statistics.
Urban Glance installation cerographical structure is simple. Eight players moving on street as slow as possible, without disturbing traffic. Costumes are formal but making impossible to distinguish players from people walking around, and so we mix in the urban net and allow different levels of contact with audience – total or partial observation, or making people part of it.
If performed at the city landmarks the installations bring the background another value, since this new information attracts more careful look. Urban landscapes have become invisible to our addicted eyes and only a living and calm contemplation can show us details and characteristics we’ve never realized.
Urban Glance is the body as part of urban textures, as a living question mark, facing the human factor made into a product, facing the little details and statements valued as nothing.
